Resident Evil 8 | VILLAGE

At this point i've done about 5 consecutive playthroughs of RE8/Village and i think i can say i really love this game

Theres just something about ethan as a protagonist thats so attractive to me; not in the sexy man way but in the 'pathetic wet cat kicked puppy i need to study him under a microscope' kinda way.

i really like that they decided to bring him back after 7 and flesh him out more because hes become one of my favourite characters in the RE universe, mostly because of the reason that theres no one really like him in any of the games.

his character arc as a dad who just wants his daughter to be safe is something so refreshing when most of the characters in this game franchise are trained cops or special agents doing what they do for like...the greater good.

idk i just really like ethan as a protag so im giving 5 S.T.A.R.S.

im currently MAD struggling through the first lycan attack in Village of shadows mode tho WTF.

i should be deducting points tho becayse ive been trying to SS rank all the mercenaries stages to get my hands on that freaking stupid lightsaber BECAUSE I WANT THAT LIGHTSABER. BUT I KEEP FAILING FACTORY II AND MADE VILLAGE II.

pls i just want my lightsaber. let ethan have his lightsaber

A song of ice and fire book I: A game of thrones

Ive made several attempts at reading ASOIAF before this one but before i always got stuck after the first two or three chapters.
this time i committed and im really glad i did, it took me a while but ive made it through the first book and it really gave me the encouragement i needed to finish the rest of the series aswell.

Book one mostly aligns with what i remember from the HBO show, which is basically ingrained in my retinas, since ive probably watched it like ten times now (except the last season, since thats the only season i dont own the dvd of.
There are still some events or characters in the books that dont show in the tv series, like Jeyne Poole or some members of Neds household guard.
a scene that really stuck with me was the one where Sandor escorts Sansa back to the red keep after the hands tourney feast, which was really insightful to his character.

Im def interested to see how other events and characters will appear and how they'll be different from what i know from watching the show.

townscaper

I picked townscaper up during a steam sale a while ago, its a very simple to the point little game that lets you quickly build a town on the water like you would with building blocks.
I think it could be a good resource to use for people who want to build a town for a dnd game or want a visual lay out for a city for a webcomic or a story.

There's not a lot to the gameplay, you just click wherever you want to place a block and it will appear, you can build horizontally as well as vertically, making towers or squares or other weird shaped buildings. you can also pick the color of each block but i dont think you can change the color after placing a block, which would be a nice added mechanic imo.
You can also change the setting of the sun, from dawn to dusk to nighttime or have no lighting at all, so everything looks like an architectural model.

its a cute little game, its fun to chill out for a bit and just build a little town but thats about as far as it goes, personally i think it would be nice if there was also an option to place different buildings in open spaces or put flower beds or gardens in specific places. or maybe change the weather, that would be really cool aswell!

giving this game a 4 out of 5 because its simple and nicely designed, which i like but its not something you can spend a lot of time on before getting bored.

Ennead I

just picked this one up today, because the art style really spoke to me.
Its seems a quick read tho so i'll probably finish it within a few hours.

I didnt think i would be this into a BL manhwa about ancient egyptian gods but i was pleasantly surprised by this comic.

it starts off with a short recounting of some basic lore and character introductions in a very minimalistic artstyle thats most like the ancient egyptian artwork most people are familiar with and then transitions to the modern artstyle thats used for the rest of the comic.

The comic basically retails personal drama and fueds among the 'ennead' or the egyptian gods, which is pretty fun to read

Im personally most interested in this comic series because the artstyle looks really effortless and the pacing is really good which is something i would love to study more for my own personal future comic projects.

I need to bring my copies of vol I + II back to the library soon but i would love to have these in my own collection so im probably getting the hardcover version of all the books when my budget allows.

Ennead II

books 2, the art is as good as the first one, theres more setup happening in regards to the story, I think the first two books of this series serve mostly as setup for the next few books because there havent been a lot of events that have happened so far.

im interested to see more lore behind the characters and their relationships in the next few books because this is a BL series, and there hasnt been a lot of emphasis on that aspect of the books so far.
It's implied that Seth and Osiris might have had a relationships at some point but its pretty unclear so i hope there will be some light shed on that later on.

Prince of persia

i picked this game up again after a long time, i remember playing it when i was maybe 10 but i never played it further than the beginning.
I really happy i gave it another chance. Aesthetically it greatly stands out from other PoP games and i love the visual direction they went with for this game, The art, character design and music all fit together very well.
The game play was great as well. I love platforming games and on that front it didn't dissapoint, the acrobatic platforming style was charming and played very smoothly.
The combat sequences were one of this games weaker points, they were overall okay but the boss fight scenes were all pretty much the same, which got stale super quickly.
another thing i found really annoying was the parrying mechanic, which had a very short reaction time, so short that ive barely landed any succesfull parry's throughout the whole game. i think it probably would have played easier on console but since i'm playing on desktop, the reacharound to get to the selected parry button (which is randomised with every parry you have to perform) was really awkward for me.
The last platforming sequence, during the Ahrimad boss i also found poorly designed, since theres a part where the camera angle shifts while you have to run, except your running direction doesnt shift with the camera angle, making it super hard not to fall off or fall behind, which made me have to restart so many times it became annoying.

What i enjoyed most about this game was the character writing, which was definitely a stand out to me.
I found the banter between Elika and the 'Prince' very charming and despite not giving away anything about the 'Prince's backstory it painted an accurate picture of the person that he is.
The story was good aswell, although less compelling to me than the characters relationship dynamic, which was the real pulling point.
I did find it interesting that they decided not to write a happy ending, instead making you undo all the hard work you spent the entire game doing, just to bring elika back, when she purposely sacrificed herself to prison Ahriman.
maybe a this was an easy way to segue into the epilogue but seeing as the epilogue didnt have much of a better ending, with Elika leaving the 'Prince' behind to search for the Ahura im not sure why they chose to do this.
It made the story feel incomplete, so I wonder if Ubisoft plans on ever bringing this storyline back again for another installment.
I would love to see that happen, since i really enjoyed this game. it still plays very well and doesnt feel outdated so its not in need of a remake but i would love to see a continuation of the story.

Resident evil | Biohazard 7

I found myself pleasantly surpised by this game. with a whole new cast of characters i was kind of sceptical of the new direction they were taking but i enjoyed this game a lot and i would even count it among some of my favourite RE games.
starting off with a whole new playstyle, this game is played through first person instead of the classic third person we're used to in most previous RE games or the fixed angle from the older games.
this didnt bother me at all but it did make me feel less close to Ethan as the main character of the game than i have for previous MCs, instead feeling more like I,

myself am the person holding the gun going throught the story

The gameplay was really enjoyable, the puzzles were nicely challenging but not so hard to the point where you have to go look up solutions on some forum online.
The story wasnt necessarily standout to me but it probably set up a good foundation to roll into RE8. [which i havent played as of this writing, its on my list though]
I will probably come back to this game and replay it when i get a new laptop since i had a really good time with it. I also played the DLC where you play as Chris (i forgot what its called) it was fun but i dont really have anything notable to say about it except wtf did they do to your face Chris.... my beautiful boy... they fckn butchered him. glad they gave him a facelift for RE8 so he's back to his normal old beefcake self.

^chris in RE5 - RE7 - RE8 ... wtf happened to you in 7 buddy??
